Return on InvestmentEducation equates earnings. The National Governor’s Association reported “people with solid basic education and literacy skills work and earn more than people without those skills”. Further, the link between education and income is demonstrated in a 2002 comparison of average annual income for person 18 and older and educational attainment:
Simply put, the higher the education, the higher the earnings, the better prepared our youth are to become leaders of tomorrow, and the more likely their children are to pursue higher education. The following table represents potential of the graduates of Project Discovery programs over the last seven years.
* Differential over HS Dropout Clearly, Project Discovery cannot claim that every one of its participants who graduate from high school would not have done so without the program. However, Project Discovery participants do graduate and do go onto higher education as a result of the program. In fact, the top twenty-five educational institutions attended by Project Discovery graduates over the last 7 years are either a community college (12) or a four-year college (13), 24 of which are in the Commonwealth. |
